How It Works

  1. Open the model of a company, or the screen of every company.
  2. Move any assumption: the returns, the debt and every chart follow at once, and a question mark beside each term explains it.
  3. Copy the link to keep the deal, or download the workbook with its live formulas.

Inputs Still Missing

These companies have a page, and their model runs once the published figures give the inputs below.

Principles

Proven Inputs

Every historical figure is a published value of Annalist with its document. A missing input stops the model, and the page names it; no figure stands in for it.

Named Assumptions

Each assumption shows its origin beside its value: a convention of the model, the company's own figures, or an official rate with its source and date.

No Forecast

A model opens on a steady state: revenue flat, the margin and the shares of revenue of the latest period. Growth is the user's choice.

Reproducible

The address of a deal names the company, the snapshot, the version of the model and every assumption, so it gives the same result in any later year.

One Engine

The page, the screen and the tool for agents run one definition of the model, and the release checks prove that they give the same figures.

Deal Lab computes arithmetic on published figures and on the assumptions of the user. It values no company, recommends no transaction and forecasts no result. Policy rates: Bank for International Settlements, central bank policy rates. Tax rates: OECD Corporate Tax Statistics.
